I haven't a clue where to put this, but if you've paid for dubs with real money lately, I encourage you to keep an eye on the Ice testing ocean.

...That's in addition to new tournament styles, prizes for 2nd-4th place, gems, closing some shop loopholes, changes to the bnav AI, and all sorts of other goodness. Not something I've been able to test personally, but it looks like there's some rather cool stuff coming.

As Lomky notes, there's a few new ship types on Ice, which rumor describes as pillage-oriented:

In the ice discussion forum, there's also mention of a new puzzle- treasure hunting- that can be played during blockades, as well as a comment from Hypnos suggesting some new Brigand king themes on the way.

A ton of stuff worth testing. Wow.

Hopefully they'll also get on with those Titans soon... But new puzzles are always welcome!

Wonder how that'll affect blockades though, especially now when people aren't still used to maneuvers...

Care to try the blockades for yourself? There's an event tomorrow, and in an important (temporary) change, anyone who's ever paid three rings at all can not only log on then, but also enjoy subscriber privileges. Be sure to spread the word- participation prizes will be awarded to oceans with strong turnout.

As if all that wasn't enough, they've also announced a way for brigand king fleets to form flotillas that can be attacked en route, driving them to or from islands. It sounds like a blockade board on a league point, with guaranteed sinky to boot.

I think we should start a betting pool on whether or not there's more to come; I imagine there's a lot of development effort right now to take advantage of more pirate hype this summer, but wow. A lot coming down the pipeline.

Depending on the price, I can see an an impact to shipyards too because if floating is hassle free and costs less than the commodity difference, I'll be ordering all my ships where wood is dirt cheap like out in the Ibis arch.
