Party Time! Party Time! Party Time!
So, in the spirit of CCC (where the good times roll!), we will be throwing a welcoming party to all the new crews and people that have joined our Flag recently.
On the 29th of September from 11am to 1pm, I'll be running mini Events and from 1pm - 2pm there'll be a little social gathering to welcome the new crews.
12am - 1pm
- Where's the Cookie? I will give out one clue and you have to come find me! First person to find me within time will win 5k, second person 2k and third person 1k. (Duration: 30 mins)
- Who let the dogs out? Aah! Someone let the dogs out of my house and they have strewn items around Sage. Help me find the items. First person to find all the items within time will win 10k, second person 5k and third person 2k. (Duration: 1 hour)
- Race race it's a race! Now this is a true speed test. You must sail from Admiral to Scurvy Reef within 15 mins. Think it's easy? Well you must have something in the hold at the start (A judge will come around before the start to check) and when you hit Kent, you must then port and buy another item and set sail to Scurvy Reef. You must have one person from a different crew in CCC on board with you at all times (no alts!). First crew to get to Scurvy within 15 mins will win 25k, second crew will win 15k and the third crew will win 10k (Duration: 15 mins) 1pm-2pm
Just a little social gathering at Amadaema's Estate on Admiral where there will be the normal 5k tournaments and the Puzzle Rooms. If you have any questions, please post here.
I hope to see you at the Party!

Point of clarification: Does this replace the party proposed here? _________________ -TG |

Yep, it's the same Party. The other thread was to just grab some ideas on what to do during the Party.
/me goes off shopping for some new party clothes. |

I think Terse is confused because I'm fairly certain the other thread said the party was 25 September _________________ Oceanus says, "Because we think it's funny when sea monsters bite your legs off" |

Good stuff. Any forum admin fancy bunging this on the CCC forums home page? Royal elections post is a little out of date and it'd be good to have a fun post there where any wandering CCCs can't fail to miss it! |

Hm, I got my double negatives in a pickle there, I meant 'can't fail to SEE it!'. That's what you get for posting messages in a rush! |

Thanks Jazzeberry (and anyone else who helped), for organising this event!
I really enjoyed all the games you thought up for us. It was good to see so many people coming along to join in. Nice to get to know some of the newer faces in CCC, and it wasn't too bad hanging out with the CCC old-timers either
Hopefully we can all get together more often (not always on this scale of course - I realise the amount of planning/poe involved).
3 cheers for Jazze! |

Aye, I got busy in RL then my router started crapping out, and my AC died, so I left to try to make it back to the party, but I was unable to. I heard it was great fun, though. Thanks again, Jazze! |

Hi Everyone!
Here are the answers to the Puzzle Rooms! Unfortunately, I have to remove Puzzle #6 as I did not put enough information in the question for you to solve it. Sowee >.>.
Puzzle # 1 Q: Kate's house is 1 mile away from Connor's house. Both of them begin jogging toward the other one's house. Connor jogs at 5 miles an hour, and Kate jogs at 6 miles an hour. After 6 minutes, who is the closest to Connor's house?
A: The correct answer was Kate.
Since their houses are 1 mile away, it would take Connor 12 minutes to jog to Kate's house, and it would take Kate 10 minutes to jog to Connor's house. After 6 minutes, Kate would be 60% of the way to Connor's house, and Connor would be 50% of the way to Kate's house. This means Connor would be half a mile from his own house, but Kate is 60% of a mile away from her house, so she would only be 40% of a mile away from Connor's house.
Puzzle # 2 Q: If in two years I will be twice as old as I was five years ago. How old am I now?
A: The correct answer was 12 & twelve.
12 + 2 = 14 12 - 5 = 7 7 (2) = 14. It is not 8 because 8 + 2 = 10 8 - 5 = 3 3 (2) - 6.
Puzzle # 3 Q: You want to join a logician club, but you can only join if you figure out where the clubhouse is located. If two of these statements are true, and two are false, where is the clubhouse located? The clubhouse is on Kayton Street The clubhouse is on Firal Street The clubhouse is not on Firal Street The clubhouse is not on Vilo Street Based on the information the logician club has given you, where should you go to find their clubhouse?
A: The correct answer was Firal Street.
If the clubhouse is on Kayton Street, then the first statement is truthful, and the second statement has to be false. Since the clubhouse is only on one street, the last two statements must be true, which would result in three true statements. Therefore, the clubhouse is not on Kayton Street.
If the clubhouse is on Vilo Street, then the last statement must be false, the third statement must be true, and the first two statements must be false. We have a similar problem as the problem before, so the clubhouse is not on Vilo Street either.
If the clubhouse is on Firal street, then the second statement is true, the third statement is false, the last statement is true, and the first statement is false. There are two true statements and two false statements, so Firal is the only street that the clubhouse can be on.
Puzzle # 4 Q: Four people combined inherited $30,000. The only person who's lying is the only person who didn't inherit anything. Which of these money amounts was someone's exact inheritance? Bill: I inherited more than everyone Mack: I inherited $12,000 Dale: Alan's money and mine are $2,000 away from each other Alan: Bill inherited $16,000 a) $13,000 b) $6,000 c) $10,000 d) $9,000
A: The correct answer was $6,000.
If Alan is the liar, then Dale inherited $2,000. Bill had to have inherited $16,000 for the money to total $50,000. This is contradicting because now Alan isn't lying. Alan has to be telling the truth as well as Bill who has $16,000.
If Dale is the liar, then Alan has to have $2,000 for the money to total $50,000. This is contradicting because now Dale isn't lying.
Mack is the liar by process of elimination.
After subtracting Bill's money, $14,000 is left. Alan and Dale must have $6,000 and $8,000 in order for them to be $2,000 away. You can't figure out who has $6,000 (Alan or Dale), but you know that $6,000 is someone's exact inheritance.
Puzzle # 5 Q: There's 1 red stupendously wonderful hat of hats, 1 blue stupendously wonderful hat of hats, 1 yellow stupendously wonderful hat of hats, and 1 green stupendously wonderful hat of hats. Each of the 4 people are wearing 1 of the hats. If each person says 1 lie and 1 truthful statement, then what color is Connor's stupendously wonderful hat of hats? Bud: Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats isn't yellow. My stupendously wonderful hat of hats isn't red. Reese: My stupendously wonderful hat of hats is blue. Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats is green. Emma: Connor's stupendously wonderful hat of hats isn't red. My stupendously wonderful hat of hats is orange. Connor: My stupendously wonderful hat of hats is orange. My stupendously wonderful hat of hats isn't orange. a) red b) yellow c) blue d) green
A: The correct answer was blue.
First we'll consider a scenario where Reese's stupendously wonderful hat of hats is blue.
Reese's first statement would have to be true. Reese's second statement must be false so Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats isn't green. If Bud's first statement is true, then Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats cannot be yellow. Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats already couldn't be green or blue because of Reese's statements. Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats cannot be red either since both of Bud's statements would be true. There is a contradiction since Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats cannot be any color. This means Bud's first statement cannot be true in this scenario. Bud's first statement is false, so Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats is yellow. This means Connor and Bud have the green and red hats. Since Bud's second statement must be true, Bud can only have the green stupendously wonderful hat of hats. This means Connor has the red stupendously wonderful hat of hats, which is impossible because now Emma is lying twice. There is always a contradiction in this scenario, so Reese's stupendously wonderful hat of hats is definitely not blue.
Reese's second statement has to be true since his first is false, so Emma's stupendously wonderful hat of hats is green. Bud's first statement is now true, so he's lying that his stupendously wonderful hat of hats isn't red. Reese and Connor have the blue and yellow hats. Since Reese's stupendously wonderful hat of hats cannot be blue, it's yellow.
Connor's stupendously wonderful hat of hats is blue, Reese's is yellow, Bud's is red, and Emma's is green.
Puzzle # 7 Q: Four people are possible suspects in robbing a bank. Two of the people worked together to rob the bank, while the other two are innocent. The guilty people are lying, while the innocent people are telling the truth. Who were the robbers? Connor: Reese was one of the robbers Emma: Bud was one of the robbers Bud: Connor and Emma were the robbers Reese: Emma was not one of the robbers
A: The correct answer was Bud and Connor.
If Bud is telling the truth that Connor and Emma were the robbers, then Reese would be innocent, and therefore telling the truth that Emma was not one of the robbers, which would contradict the fact that Connor and Emma were the robbers. This means Bud is lying, and he is one of the robbers. If Emma was the other robber, then Reese would be lying, resulting in three robbers. So Emma is not the other robber, and Reese is telling the truth. This means Connor has to be the other robber, so Bud and Connor robbed the bank.
Puzzle # 8 Q: A man left home one day and made three left turns and met a man with a mask on. What was the first man's profession?
A: A baseball player.
Puzzle # 9 Q: My first is at the beginning of race, My second at the end of face. My third is at the beginning of a word in a question, The fourth is in a word for "to question". My fifth is in race, yet not in ace, And for the last, I am starting done. What am I?
A: Reward
Puzzle # 10 Q: Your sock drawer contains ten pairs of white socks and ten pairs of black socks. If you're only allowed to take one sock from the drawer at a time and you can't see what color sock you're taking until you've taken it, how many socks do you have to take before you're guaranteed to have at least one matching pair?
A: Three.
In the worst case, the first two socks you take out will consist of one black sock and one white sock. The next sock you take out is guaranteed to match one or the other. |
